Ol Pejeta Conservancy lies on the Laikipia plateau near Nanyuki. It is a privately managed conservation landscape — cattle, research and tourism sharing the same ground — rather than a Kenya Wildlife Service national park like Nakuru or Amboseli.
Transcend books your vehicle, nights and the shape of the visit. Ol Pejeta’s own team and partner lodges run the land. We do not own the rhinos, the chimpanzee sanctuary or the camps. That distinction matters: your entry and activity rules follow the conservancy, and we will say so in the plan.

Private game drives look for lion, chimpanzee-sanctuary visits where booked, plains game and the wider Laikipia mix. Chimpanzees here were relocated for welfare — they are not wild Kenyan apes.
Gates, activity slots and vehicle rules are tighter than an open reserve. We build the day around what the conservancy can actually host on your dates.
The same road that reaches Ol Pejeta reaches Nanyuki. A Mount Kenya trek can sit before or after the conservancy nights if fitness and days allow.
Guests who care about rhino work, families who want a compact wildlife stay north of Nairobi, and climbers who want a softer night after or before the mountain. It is a different mood from the Mara’s open tourist circuit.
One night works if you already sleep in Nanyuki. Two nights is the usual dedicated safari. Road from Nairobi is a half-day-scale drive, not a weekend hop. Pickup can be the city, JKIA or a Nanyuki hotel via private transfer.
Camps and lodges on or beside the conservancy are requested on your behalf. Standards range from simple to very high — say which band you want. Room enquiries can also start on hotels.
Laikipia mornings are cooler than the coast. Pack a fleece for the first drive, closed shoes, and binoculars. If you add Mount Kenya, keep a separate bag for mountain layers so safari dust does not sit in your trek clothes.
No. It is a conservancy. That is why some activities and enclosures exist here that you will not find on a standard park circuit.
When the conservancy is offering that visit, we can request it. Access is not automatic and is never something we guarantee on a webpage.
Nanyuki is the hinge. Sleep, shop last supplies, then either enter the conservancy or start the trek. We will not stack a summit night and a long game-drive day on the same date.
