Sirimon
A northern approach often used for a steady gain in height. Popular for trekkers heading toward Lenana with time to acclimatise.
Guided days on a real alpine mountain — forest, moorland and, for those who are ready, a pre-dawn walk toward Point Lenana. Transcend plans logistics. The mountain decides the weather.
Mount Kenya is a weathered volcano with three main summits. Point Lenana is the peak most trekkers aim for: a demanding high-altitude hike, not a rock climb. Batian and Nelion are technical alpine routes for experienced climbers with the right season, gear and mountain guides. Transcend will not sell those faces as a casual add-on.
What we do arrange is the approach: park fees, porters and cooks through partners, hut or camp nights, and a private transfer from Nairobi or Nanyuki. We are a travel desk, not a mountaineering school, and we do not invent summit-success percentages.

The classic western line, including the vertical bog that people remember. Direct, and harder on the legs if you rush it.
A scenic eastern descent or ascent past gorges and lakes. Often combined with Sirimon so you do not retrace the same trail.
These are orientation notes, not a route-instruction manual. The exact nights, huts and turning points are set when we know your fitness and the days you have.
Lenana rewards people who already hike hills with a pack. Altitude — not technical rock — is the main filter. If you have not slept above 3,000 metres, we will argue for more nights rather than a compressed dash. Heart, lung or recent injury issues belong in a conversation with your clinician before you book, not on summit morning.
Day-hike options exist lower on the mountain for guests who want forest and viewpoint walking without a summit attempt. Say so clearly.
Mountain guides, porters and cooks are arranged through operators who work this peak. Hut space is requested; it is not reserved by a webpage. Pickup is typically Nairobi or Nanyuki. A night in Nanyuki before you enter the park is kinder than a 4 a.m. city departure straight onto the trail.
The same road serves Ol Pejeta. Many guests put a conservancy night on one side of the trek.
Ankle support and grip on wet rock. New boots on day one are a common reason people turn back.
Nights are cold. A proper insulating layer and a waterproof shell matter more than a safari shirt.
Summit morning starts in the dark if Lenana is the goal.
Carry what you already use. Discuss altitude medicine with a clinician; we do not prescribe.
No. Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania and is a different expedition — see Mount Kilimanjaro climbing. Kenya is steeper in places, quieter, and usually shorter in days.
Enough to sleep high before you go higher. We confirm a night count after we hear your hiking background. There is no single official package length on this page.
No. Weather, altitude and fitness decide. Turning around is a successful mountain decision.
Yes — Ol Pejeta is the closest wildlife stay. The Mara or Naivasha need a separate road leg.
Send hiking background, dates and whether Ol Pejeta should sit in the same trip.
We will match route and nights to the walking you already do — not to a brochure summit promise.
